The outage isn't just a global story, India is feeling the heat too. Data from Downdetector.in shows nearly 400 users in the country have reported problems with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Here as well, the chatbot itself takes the lion's share of blame, with 89% of Indian users citing issues with ChatGPT directly. Around 6% pointed to the app as the source of trouble, while 4% flagged the website as the culprit.
At the time of writing, OpenAI has not posted any update on its official status page acknowledging the disruption. That silence has only added to the frustration among users who depend on the tool for everything from work tasks to creative projects. Social media platforms lit up quickly, with frustrated users sharing screenshots of error messages and unresponsive screens.
