Thousands of patients and their families walk to raise millions for Northwell Health hospital programs

More than 5,000 people gathered across six locations for theNorthwell Walk to Raise Health, raising a record $1.32 million for local hospital programs and services.

Participants including patients and their families, community members and Northwell employees walked May 17 at Jones Beach and in Port Jefferson, Riverhead, Westchester and Staten Island, as well as Norwalk, Conn., marking the event’s first expansion into Connecticut following Northwell’s merger with Nuvance Health last year.

At the Jones Beach walk, where funds benefit women’s andchildren’s health, local residents Andrew and Dia Plant spoke about the lifesaving care their son, RJ, received at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.

Fundraising continues through June 5.
