The animal’s owner, 38-year-old Zia Uddin Mridha, sold it before it became a certified tourist attraction weeks before Eid.
Federal authorities in Bangladesh intervened at the eleventh hour, saving the buffalo from certain death. They cited security concerns ‘and the unusual level of public interest’ ahead of Thursday’s festival, according to a ministry official.”
