Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reacted to Sachin Tendulkar's praise for him after his record-breaking knock of 97 runs in just 29 balls for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Wednesday (May 27) in the eliminator of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Playing his first playoff match in the history of the IPL, the 15-year-old showed no nerves and helped his team register a thumping 47-run victory to set up a clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the same venue on Friday (May 29) in the second qualifier.
After the incredible Royals opener that saw him hit 12 sixes, social media was full of praise for him. Among those to appreciate the Indian cricket teenage prodigy was Sachin Tendulkar. The 53-year-old hailed Vaibhav's bat swing and ability to clear his front foot.
"Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s bat swing has been outstanding. What’s even more remarkable is how beautifully he clears his front foot to create room for balls aimed at his legs. This freedom allows him to play the way he does. That innings was nothing short of spectacular!," wrote Sachin on X.
Sooryavanshi was informed about Sachin's post for him by teammate Dhruv Jurel. The 2026 IPL's orange cap holder claimed he was not aware and claimed it was a matter of pride for him. He called the Indian cricket legend as the 'God of Cricket.'
"It feels really good, sir. It motivates me. You just told me about it; I wasn't even aware. And of course, everyone knows he is the God of Cricket. If he has tweeted something like that, it's a huge deal for us that a legend like him has tweeted about us. So, of course, it is a matter of pride," said Sooryavanshi in an interaction with IPL's official website.
