When describing the issue, a Google Gemini Pro user on Reddit mentioned that he was forced to cancel his subscription due to usage limits. Theuser said: “I canceled my Pro sub today; The new “5-hour compute limit” is completely unusable.”

Today, more people are planning to cancel their subscription due to this limit issue. A good example isIntellect5on the r/GeminiAI. The user said: “Whenever I want to use Gemini, I find it saying I reached my limit after almost 5 prompts in a day, when before I never hit my limit.” Because of usage limits, the Google Gemini Pro user said he wants to cancel his subscription.

Further research shows that the new development is connected to a new compute model used by Google. This dynamic, compute-based token system deducts credits quickly for long chats and complex prompts. This explains why users now get locked out of the service quickly. Asking the system for a summary of a single document consumes roughly one-quarter of usage, as noted by anX user. Another usermentionedthat turning on the personalization feature even drains the limit faster.

For now, Google hasn’t publicly spoken about thisnew development. As such, we don’t know exactly what the company has in mind to address this issue.

But one thing we know for sure is that if nothing is done, more Google Gemini Pro user will cancel their subscription due to usage limits. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update this post as soon as Google says something about it.
