Gurkirat Singh Manocha, who had moved abroad to pursue higher education, died after he suffered critical injuries in a brutal attack by a group of youths. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors later declared him dead.
Gurkirat, as per a report, travelled to Canada to pursue a postgraduate diploma in business management at Northern Lights College. Alongside his studies, he worked part-time at a Walmart store to support himself, as many international students do. According to the family, on the night of the incident he had just finished his shift when some students from his College reportedly took him along with them. It is believed there was a pre-existing dispute among some of the youths and Gurkirat got caught in the altercation that followed.
