Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday hit back at Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the alleged discrepancies in CBSE examinations and the On-Screen Marking (OSM) controversy, saying the Congress leader appeared to be in a “different state of mind," reports PTI.
Responding to Gandhi’s criticism, Pradhan said the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had already issued a clarification on the matter and asserted that the procurement process was conducted in accordance with Government of India norms.
“I want to assure everyone that if any irregularities are found, no one will be spared,” the minister said.
Launching a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi, Pradhan alleged that the Congress MP was frustrated due to repeated electoral defeats.
“As far as Rahul Gandhi is concerned, he seems to have reached a different state of mind. Due to continuous electoral defeats, he appears frustrated,” Pradhan said.
The Union minister further accused Gandhi of opposing several government initiatives in the past, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and Digital India.
“He opposed SIR, he used to oppose EVMs, and he opposed Digital India. He does not seem to stand with India’s scientific progress,” Pradhan said.
Addressing concerns surrounding the CBSE evaluation controversy, the minister said the government was sensitive to the stress being faced by students and examinees.
“I myself take responsibility on behalf of the government for any inconvenience. This is not the time for politics. Politics can be done later,” he said.
Pradhan also appealed to political leaders and the public to avoid making statements that could further increase anxiety among students.
