Emergency responders raced to Abundant Life Fellowship Church on State Route 12 in New York's Boonville on Tuesday, February 17, after reports of a powerful explosion at the site. Local reports indicated the smell of gas before the blast. According to Oneida County Emergency Services, fire and rescue units were dispatched to the scene following reports of an explosion at the Abundant Life church building, located near 12644 New York State Route 12.

First responders confirmed at least five individuals were injured, with up to 13 people needing medical attention. Two medical helicopters were requested to assist with transporting seriously injured victims to regional hospitals.

According to Oneida County 911, the call came in at 10:23 am on Tuesday, February 17.

The Facebook page of Grace Church Utica in New York confirmed the incident, urging followers to keep those affected in their thoughts.

They posted, "Pray for the Abundant Life Church on SR 12 in Boonville following an explosion in the building that caused multiple injuries."

Emergency responders from Boonville, Barneveld, Constableville, Forestport, Remsen and Stittville have all been rushed to the scene.
