Dowoon of Day6 has finally addressed the dating and marriage rumors surrounding him — but his emotional message appears to have done little to calm the growing backlash among fans.
Early on Thursday, Dowoon posted a message through his personal channel. “Our team will never disappear. I’m not going anywhere. Don’t look at negative comments, and even if you see posts about me for the time being, just ignore them. I’m sorry for hurting you guys.”
He added, “Just wait a little longer,” in what many fans interpreted as an indirect response to the controversy.
The message came two days after Dowoon became embroiled in dating and marriage rumors involving Yoo Ji-yu, a YouTuber known as the younger sister of popular creator Yoo Hye-joo.
Online speculation rapidly spread after some users claimed the two appeared to own matching couple items, including keyrings and interior decorations shown on social media and in videos. Rumors intensified further after alleged eyewitness accounts claimed the pair had met with a wedding planner.
As the rumors spread across Korean online communities and social media, fans closely watched whether JYP Entertainmentwould respond. However, on Tuesday, the agency said only that it had “no position” on the matter.
The fandom reaction quickly turned heated. Some fans accused Dowoon of “betraying” supporters, while others criticized him for uploading a new video to his personal YouTube channel without directly addressing the rumors first.
Comments poured into the channel, reportedly reaching around 4,000 within 12 hours of the upload. Reactions included criticism such as, “Not even dating rumors, but marriage rumors already?” and “Please do not cause trouble for the other members.”
Dowoon’s latest statement has done little to settle the controversy, as he neither confirmed nor denied the rumors directly. Instead, the brief and emotional tone of his message fueled further debate online, with speculation surrounding both the alleged relationship and possible marriage plans continuing to trend among fans.
