French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday arrived in Mumbai and received a star-studded welcome, meeting some of Bollywood’s biggest namesahead of the AI Impact Summit.
Macron, accompanied by France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron, shared several snapshots of the meeting on X, writing: “Alongside legends of Indian cinema. Culture brings us together."
Among those present were actors Anil Kapoor, Richa Chadha, Shabana Azmi, Manoj Tiwari, director Zoya Akhtar, and others.

Macron arrived ahead of his bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the leaders are expected to review progress on the India-France strategic partnership.

Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis received the French President at the airport, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.
Fadnavis welcomed Macron on X, saying: “Bienvenue à Mumbai! A very warm welcome to the President of France, H.E. Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron as they arrive in Mumbai! Maharashtra welcomes you! Wishing Hon President Macron and the entire French delegation a pleasant stay and a successful visit."
This is Macron’s fourth visit to India and his first to Mumbai. The AI Impact Summit, running from February 17 to 19, will host discussions on AI’s impact on jobs, society, and innovation.
On Tuesday afternoon, Macron and Prime Minister Modi are scheduled for bilateral talks at Lok Bhavan in South Mumbai. They will later inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and address business leaders, start-ups, researchers, and innovators from both countries.
