JSW MG Motor India launched the Majestor today, and the prices are out. The 4x2 AT starts at Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The 4x4 AT is Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Two variants, no other options. The Majestor replaces the Gloster, is the longest SUV in its segment at over 5 metres, and goes directly after the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tayron and Skoda Kodiaq. Same twin-turbo diesel engine as the Gloster underneath, but triple differential locks, a redesigned exterior and a completely reworked interior are new. Four colour options are available at launch.

Inside, the cabin is all-black throughout with a redesigned dashboard, new AC vents and an updated centre console. Dual 12.3-inch screens cover infotainment and instruments. The feature list includes a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker JBL audio, 64-colour ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, two wireless charging pads and powered front seats with ventilation and massage. Buyers can choose between a 6-seat captain's chair layout — seats that slide, recline and have individual armrests — or a 7-seat bench layout. Boot space is 343 litres with all rows up and 1,350 litres with the third row folded. Level 2 ADAS is standard on both variants.

On price, the Majestor 4x4 AT at Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom) undercuts the Toyota Fortuner 4x4 AT at Rs 34.76 lakh (ex-showroom) by Rs 29,000. It is 611 mm longer than the Fortuner, makes 11 bhp more from a smaller engine and offers triple differential locks that the Fortuner does not. MG's 5-5-5 ownership package — 5 years unlimited km warranty, 5 years roadside assistance, and 5 years free scheduled maintenance — comes bundled with the car.
