Amid temperatures souring in almost all parts of Northern India, the hilly regions of the country are witnessing massively destructive forest fires yet again. Anotherraging firewas reported from the forests of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, May 26. The fire broke out in the jungles adjoining Tharugadh, Manoun villages, and the Air Force Station in the Jangesu area of Kasauli, Solan. Ahorrifying videoof the tragedy also came forward, which was quick to leave many shocked. The blaze reportedly engulfed a large portion of the surrounding forest area, spreading rapidly due to strong winds and dry conditions.

The fire was reportedly wild enough that not only the Fire Department, but at least two Indian Air Force helicopters were also deployed in the area to control the flames. The IAF deployed its Mil Mi-17 and Chinook helicopters to put out the fire, especially in inaccessible areas of the forest, as per PTI. Water was also reportedly lifted from Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake to douse the fire.

Multiple teams, including two fire tenders from the Parwanoo Fire Brigade, one from the Kasauli Cantonment Board, and three from the Air Force Station Kasauli, were deployed. Personnel from the Fire Department, Forest Department, and Army were also engaged in relief and firefighting operations.

Thick plumes of smoke were seen taking over the region, causing inconvenience to local residents. Authorities, on the other hand, have urged the public to avoid any negligence related to fire in forest areas and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the administration.

In another incident, a massive forest fire occurred near Budogi village in Uttarakhand on May 23, prompting a swift response from local forest teams. The Tehri Divisional Forest Officer reported that the fire was nearly extinguished within an hour and a half, affecting approximately fourteen hectares.
