Five people have died in an apartment fire in Spain, and another five were left injured.

The blaze broke out in a five-storey building in Manlleu, in the province of Barcelona, on Monday night. It is believed the fire started in a storage room located on the roof of the property. Among the five victims there also could be minors, Spanish newspaperEl Pais reported. Four people suffered minor injuries.

Local reports also said the cause of the fire is unknown, and three families were rehoused in a hotel. Police are currently investigating.

Catalan President Salvador Illa said he was “shocked” by the news and sent his condolences to the families. The mayor of Manlleu, Arnau Rovira, declared three days of mourning for the tragedy, El Pais also added.
