The Indian Stock Markets on Wednesday open with minor losses with the Sensex falling by 61 points while the oil and gas stocks weigh in. At open, Sensex was at 75,948.49 down by 61.21 points or 0.08% while Nifty was at 23,920. 90 up by 7.20 points or 0.03%.
Indian Rupee was trading at Rs 95.75 per dollar, as compared to Rs 95.68 per dollar in the previous trading session.
GIFT Nifty futures were trading at 23,890.5 in the morning day, indicating a subdued opening for the NSE Nifty 50, which had closed at 23,913.70 in previous session.
In the previous session on Tuesday, Sensex was down by 411.46 points or 0.54% at 76,077.50 while Nifty was at 23,913.70, down by 118.00 points or 0.49%. The overall market capitalisation of the BSE-listed firms remained stable at Rs 469 lakh crore.
Hitesh Tailor, Technical Research Analyst at Choice Broking said, "Global markets remained largely positive amid stable investor sentiment and easing geopolitical concerns, though cautious trading near higher levels may keep domestic markets range-bound during the early part of the session."
"Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned net sellers on 26th May 2026 and offloaded equities worth Rs 2,407.90 crore, indicating profit booking and cautious sentiment among overseas investors following the recent market rally. In contrast, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued to lend support to the market and remained net buyers with equity purchases worth Rs 1,361.40 crore, helping cushion the broader market weakness," he said.
"The near-term market tone remains cautious but stable, as recent profit booking near higher levels indicates some consolidation after the sharp recovery phase."
