The Government of India is closely monitoring the evolving Ebola virus situation after recent outbreaks were reported in parts of Africa. According to reports, a traveller with recent travel history from Uganda has been isolated in Bengaluru as a precautionary measure, although no confirmed Ebola case has been detected in India so far.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare says an individual reported mild symptoms of body ache and was admitted to the State-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Bengaluru for observation and evaluation. Officials stated that the patient remains stable and otherwise healthy.

A sample has been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for testing, and results are currently awaited. The government stressed that all public health protocols are being followed in line with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
