Delhiis bracing for a significant heatwave as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the region for the next three days, from Wednesday, May 27, to Friday, May 29. Residents are advised to stay updated and take necessary precautions against the extreme heat. As per the IMD, the minimum temperature may remain 28°C for the day.

The day is expected to experience strong surface winds and heatwaves during the afternoon, and the same during the evening. Humidity, on the other hand, will remain from 40 per cent to 25 per cent. The day might also be accompanied by a wind speed of approximately 5.47 km/h, with gusts reaching 8.48 km/h.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city currently stands at 196, categorised as 'poor', which can pose health risks to sensitive groups. With these conditions, the IMD warns that heatwave conditions could lead to discomfort and health concerns for the general population.
