A day after chaos broke broke out at an SSC GD Constable examination centre in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a clarification, and has dismissed reports of paper leak or any major discrepancy during the government recruitment exam.

The Commission, in an official statement, admitted that there were technical disruptions at one centre each in Kanpur, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Muzaffarpur during the forenoon shift of May 25 (Monday).

"The Computer Based Exam for Constable (General Duty) in the Central Armed Forces 2026 is being conducted by the SSC since 27 April 2026. Tests are being held in multiple shifts across the country at about 230 centres. The exam is scheduled to conclude on 31 May 2026," SSC informed candidates.

SSC then added details of the centres where technical glithces were spotted. "On 25 May, technical disruptions were reported at one centre each in Kanpur, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Muzaffarpur during the forenoon shift. As a result, tests scheduled at these centres were cancelled and affected candidates were rescheduled for subsequent dates," the Commission said in a tweet.

Following this, "on 26 May, issues were resolved at three centres. However, disruption continued at a part of the iTech centre in Prayagraj. Some candidates advocated a boycott and affected the ongoing examination at another part of the same venue."

Due to this, "the examination at this Prayagraj venue has been cancelled for all remaining days. Affected candidates will be rescheduled. SSC plans to complete the examination process for all candidates by 31 May 2026," SSC noted. "Affected candidates are advised to regularly check their registered e-mail IDs and contact numbers for further updates regarding rescheduling and examination details."

SSC has also dismissed reports of any possible paper leak or any other disruption in any other centre across the country. "At all other examination centres across the country, the examination has been conducted smoothly," SSC stated.

The incident that went viral on social media took place on Monday at the Shrimati Ramkali Iqbal Bahadur Online Centre in Purvameer, Maharajpur. According to PTI inputs, the centre had a seating capacity of 399 candidates per shift. However, admit cards were reportedly issued to 819 candidates for each shift, leading to severe overcrowding and confusion at the venue. However, this specific incident has not been acknowledged by the Commission.

The recent SSC chaos was also noted by Arvind Kejriwal, former Chief Minister of Delhi, and the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party. "NEET, after CBSE Class 12th, now reports of irregularities are coming from many places in SSC GD as well," he tweeted. "Complaints are coming from many places that there was a server malfunction, and at many exam centers, more children were called than the capacity. What kind of government is this? One that can't even conduct a single paper properly?"
