Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan may soon become Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ neighbours in Miami, Florida. Zuckerberg is in talks to buy a luxury home at Indian Creek Village, also dubbed as ‘billionaire bunker’, one of the richest neighbourhoods in the US.
Extreme privacy, security and exclusivity, here’s why“billionaire bunker"is attractive to the ultra-rich.
The ‘Billionaire Bunker’ is the nickname for Indian Creek Village, an ultra-exclusive, 300-acre man-made island located in Biscayne Bay, Florida.
Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index estimates Zuckerberg’s net worth at $240 billion.
The island operates as an independent municipality with its own private police force that patrols by land, air, and water 24/7. It features an Israeli-designed radar system and cameras hidden throughout the landscape.
There are only 41 residential lots on the island, home to approximately 84 residents.
The interior of the island is dominated by a private 18-hole golf course and the Indian Creek Country Club, which reportedly has a $500,000 initiation fee.
Current residents include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, NFL legend Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and billionaire investor Carl Icahn.
