Canada are taking on New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. As Canada won the toss and opted to bat first, they put on a solid performance against one of the favourites to win the T20 World Cup 2026. Their innings was led by 19-year-old opening batter Yuvraj Samra, who managed to create history.

In this game young opener Yuvraj Samra hit 110 runs from 65 deliveries, in an innings studded with 11 fours and 6 sixes. He becomes the first player from an associate nation to smash a century in the history of the T20 World Cup.

The previous highest score by a batter from an associate nation was by Aaron Jones of the USA against Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024. He smashed 94 runs against Canada.

Samra was dismissed in the final over of the contest, as he skied a Jacob Duffy delivery straight into the hands of Glenn Phillips in the deep.

Yuvraj Samra broke another record as he slammed a historic century against New Zealand. At 19 years and 141 days, Samra became the youngest player to hit a century in the T20 World Cup. He broke the record of Pakistan's Ahmed Shehzad, who scored a century in the T20 World Cup 2014 against Bangladesh at 22 years and 127 days.
