Three unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire inside a hotel in South Delhi's Amar Colony area on Tuesday (May 26), injuring a man. According to police, the attackers targeted a young man and woman who were seated inside the hotel, firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. The injured man sustained a bullet wound and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The police team received the call at 7:54 PM at Amar Colony Police Station, where they reported an incident of firing at an eatery in the Amar Colony Area.
Police officials, including SHO and ACP, reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the hotel and nearby areas is being examined to identify the suspects and find out the motive behind the attack. Several teams have been formed to track down and arrest the accused, who remain at large.
The injured man has been taken to the Moolchand Hospital. The senior officers reached the hospital immediately and found the victim in an unconscious condition on ventilator support. He has been transferred to AIIMS Trauma Centre and has been under treatment there.
According to the initial enquiry, the boy was having food at the eatery with his friend/s. After some time, a group of boys passed through them, and one of the boys touched the chair of the victim, to which the victim objected.
The group of boys left and came back after 4-5 minutes. One of the boys fired one round at the victim and fled.
Earlier this year, another firing incident was reported in Delhi's northwest area in February. According to the police, a PCR call was received at Adarsh Nagar police station around 10.05 pm regarding gunshots fired outside a residence in the area.
The complainant woman alleged that a man had a prior dispute with her son, and he arrived at their house and fired one round in the air before fleeing the spot.
