A serious bomb threat has caused panic in Mohali, Punjab. An email was sent threatening to blow up Fortis Hospital and several private schools in the city. The situation is more serious because Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is currently admitted to Fortis Hospital for health reasons. In the email, the sender mentioned his name and claimed that powerful explosions would take place at 1:11 pm. After receiving the threat, Punjab Police and intelligence agencies immediately went on high alert.
The threat also affected private schools in Mohali. When schools in Phase 5 and other areas received the news, students were quickly sent home for safety. Worried parents rushed to pick up their children, causing traffic congestion in many areas.
