Nearly a year after the deadlyAI 171 crashshook the aviation sector, the wait for answers is set to continue. Top Aviation Ministry sources have told Times Now that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will publish only a final investigation report into the incident, with no interim report expected before that. Sources confirmed that the AAIB is still working on the final findings, which are now likely to be released only after June 12, 2026, marking more than a year since the Air India crash on June 12, 2025.

According to officials familiar with the matter, there is no plan to issue a preliminary or interim report before the final conclusions are ready. Two separate sources confirmed that the investigation will culminate directly in a final report.

The delay has intensified anxiety among families of the victims, many of whom are still searching for clarity and closure. An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the relatives of the deceased crew members, along with the families of pilots Capt Sumeet Sabarwal and Capt Clive Kunder, deserve “clear answers” on what led to the tragedy.

Another source pointed out that complex aviation investigations often take significant time, with some international crash probes stretching up to 22 months before final reports are released. However, the source added that investigators are aiming to complete the AI 171 report after the first anniversary of the crash.
