Gold Rate Today: Gold prices are experiencing sharp movements, keeping traders on their toes. Fresh data from the All India Sarafa Association shows that 24-carat gold in Delhi climbed to Rs 1,59,200 per 10 grams (including all taxes) on Tuesday, February 17, compared to the previous closing price of Rs 1,58,500 per 10 grams.

According to the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), gold was priced at Rs 1,54,098 per 10 grams on Tuesday morning. As per the association’s latest update, the rate for 22 carat gold was Rs 141154, whereas 18 carat gold was valued at Rs 115574. These benchmark rates are widely used by jewellers across the country and are revised multiple times during the day in line with market fluctuations.

Meanwhile, on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures slipped to Rs 1,54,897 per 10 grams.

On the global front, spot gold declined by Rs 40.10, or 1 per cent, to Rs 5,003.01 per ounce

Market analysts point to global cues and currency fluctuations as key drivers behind the recent swings. Saumil Gandhi, senior analyst (commodities) at HDFC Securities, told PTI that gold prices fell on Monday due to a mild correction in the dollar and subdued buying interest. He also noted that trading volumes remained thin as Chinese markets were closed for the Lunar New Year holidays. With China being a major participant in bullion trade, its temporary absence reduced volatility and dampened overall sentiment.
