The claim that the president filed against the IRS was on the verge of being dismissed for lack of adversity. The president effectively sued the government agency that he controlled, and it was unclear that that was even a valid lawsuit. It was dismissed voluntarily by the Justice Department before a judge could rule on that. So the premise here that there was money that the president gave up is flawed as a matter of law.
