Home-3D Prod and Sculpteo Merge to Scale AM in France

French additive manufacturing providers3D ProdandSculpteohave announced a merger, with 3D Prod, backed by injection moulding firmPlatex, acquiring Sculpteo fromBASF New Business GmbH, which had held the company since its 2019 purchase. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The combined entity aims to establish itself as a reference point for industrial 3D printing across Europe and beyond, with the stated ambition of guiding manufacturers through every stage of the production cycle, from initial prototypes through to large-scale series output. Together, the two companies bring 100 staff, over 7,000 corporate clients across 61 countries, and two French production sites, in Vosges and Villejuif, to the table.

“With this merger, we are giving ourselves the means to support the expansion of this sector by offering a complete range of services, from prototypes to large-scale production, to support French, European, and American manufacturers at every stage of their development,” said Quentin Kiener, President of 3D Prod.

What the Merger Puts on the Table

On the production side, the newly unified group will operate 78 industrial 3D printers and work with 75 technical materials, together manufacturing more than 1.25 million parts per year. Their shared fleet of 18 HP Multi Jet Fusion systems is understood to rank among the largest in the world. Rounding out the technology offering are Selective Laser Sintering, Fused Filament Fabrication, and Stereolithography services, complemented by injection moulding capabilities through Platex.

Financially, the two entities currently generate a combined €17 million in annual revenue. Looking ahead, the group is targeting €20 million by 2027, underpinned by planned equipment upgrades at both facilities, new talent recruitment, and accelerated series production, all aligned with an anticipated annual market growth rate above 10%.

“Combining the offerings of both companies will give customers access to a broader portfolio of materials and services, delivering an even more comprehensive industrial 3D printing solution,” said Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo.

Sector-Wide Momentum: A Pattern Taking Shape Across the Industry

The 3D Prod–Sculpteo merger follows a logic that has been playing out across the additive manufacturing services market for several years.Protolabs’ acquisition of 3D Hubsgave it access to a global network of 240 manufacturing partners, enabling broader capabilities, larger part sizes, new materials, and expanded geographic reach, all capabilities it could not offer independently. As incoming CEO Rob Bodor put it at the time, the combined organization would serve customers from idea to prototype to full end-use production: a single partner for the full journey.
