Robert Kagan, one of the godfathers of neoconservatism and the husband of Victoria ‘Fuck the EU’ Nuland, penned a new column in The Atlantic that suggests President Donald Trump is trying his best to “slip away” from Iran without Americans “noticing the magnitude of this defeat.”

Kagan, who previously penned anarticletitled “Checkmate in Iran,” wrote yesterday that Trump’s latest phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was evidence of Washington’s retreat. Axiosreportedthat Netanyahu’s “hair was on fire” after the call.

Netanyahu is highly skeptical about the negotiations and wants to resume the war to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities and weaken the regime by destroying its critical infrastructure.

Kagan notedthat the Iranians absorbed 37 consecutive days of bombings from the U.S. and Israeli military and have made no concessions, and have actually exerted more control over the region by essentially closing the vital Strait of Hormuz.
