The DMK on Friday took a swipe at the two MLAs of IUML and VCK who joined Chief Minister Vijay's Cabinet. DMK's A Raja tweeted, "If the coconut in my home garden bends over and offers tender water to the opposite house, in literature, that would be named 'muttatthengu'. What name should we give it in politics?" he wrote, ending the post with "Long live Tamil!" Though Raja did not name any person or party directly, his post is being seen as a swipe at the VCK and IUML for accepting Cabinet berths in Vijay's government, despite being allied with the DMK.

On Friday, AM Shahjahan of the IUML and Vanni Arasu of the VCK took oath as ministers in the Tamil Nadu government. Their induction came days after 21 TVK MLAs and two Congress legislators - Rajesh Kumar and P Vishwanathan - were sworn in.

Earlier this month, Vijay had taken oath as Chief Minister along with nine ministers from his party after the TVK emerged as the single-largest party in the Assembly elections.

The actor-turned-politician's party won 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, falling short of the majority mark of 118. However, support from Congress, the two Left parties, the VCK and the IUML enabled Vijay to prove his majority and form the government. With the latest inductions, Vijay's Cabinet has reached its full strength of 35 ministers, the maximum allowed under constitutional provisions.

Vijay's TVK, however, hit back strongly at Raja, describing his comments as the "peak of uncivility" and accused the DMK of mocking parties that had taken a stand on power-sharing.

The party alleged that whenever political outfits working for "social justice" assert their rights or express differing views, the DMK attempts to "intimidate and insult" them. The TVK further claimed that the DMK was "losing its balance" out of fear that the new political developments could weaken its "family monopoly" in Tamil Nadu politics, adding, "You are exposing yourself".
