The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday challenged the anticipatory bail granted toGiribala Singh, a former judge who is now accused in the Twisha Sharma death case. The state challenged the bail order in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where Twisha's husband Samarth Singh's bail plea is also set to come up for hearing at around 2.30 pm.

The matter will be heard before Justice Avnindra Kumar Singh in the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. According to sources, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta is expected to appear for the state government in the case.

The state has also asked for a CBI probe into the case.

Meanwhile, advocate Jaideep Kaurav, who is representing Samarth Singh, said the case diary related to the investigation had reached the High Court.

Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old former model and actor from Noida, was found dead at her in-laws' house in Bhopal's Katara Hills area on May 12, just five months after her marriage to Samarth Singh in December 2025.

Her family has accused Samarth Singh and his family of dowry harassment, mental torture and physical abuse. Following the allegations, police registered an FIR in the case.

The case has drawn national attention because Giribala Singh is a retired district judge and currently heads the Bhopal District Consumer Commission.

Earlier this month, a Bhopal sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh. However, the same court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Samarth Singh. Police later said Samarth Singh was absconding and announced a reward for information leading to his arrest.

Meanwhile, Twisha's family moved the High Court seeking cancellation of Giribala Singh's bail. They have alleged that she is not cooperating with the investigation. Bhopal Police recently issued athird and final noticeto Giribala Singh asking her to join the probe and record her statement.

The investigation has also seen controversy over CCTV footage, forensic evidence and digital records. Twisha's family has repeatedly demanded a detailed forensic investigation, alleging possible tampering with electronic evidence linked to the case.
