French veteran Gael Monfils will be playing his final Roland Garros. Monfils, ahead of the season, announced that he will retire from professional tennis after this year. Monfils hasn't won a Grand Slam, but he has made a special place in the hearts of fans through his flamboyant play and charismatic character. Ahead of the Roland Garros, the tournament threw an emotional farewell to the legend.

Several stars from both the ATP and WTA Tours turned out to make “Gael & Friends” a memorable event. Wife Elina Svitolina was welcomed first by Monfils, before the likes ofNovak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Naomi Osaka, along with retired home favourites Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet, made the court. The standout moment of the day, however, was Monfils' bromance with World No.1 Jannik Sinner. Meanwhile, Elina was seen in tears as friends paid tribute to the veteran.

The Italian, on the other hand, was very lucky to get a favourable draw.Sinnerwill face Clement Tabur in the first round, followed by possible matches against Juan Manuel Cerundolo, Corentin Moutet, Luciano Darderi, Ben Shelton, and Felix Auger-Aliassime en route to the final, if he continues the winning run.

Gael Monfils, meanwhile, has also got a relatively easy opening match against local player Hugo Gaston. If Monfils wins the contest, he could face Francisco Cerundolo or Botic van de Zandschulp. A win in the second round could set up a blockbuster clash with Daniil Medvedev.
