Former district judge Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of deceased Twisha Sharma, allegedly made dozens of phone calls to senior officials, legal figures and personal contacts afterTwisha’s death, while her son and prime accused Samarth Singh remained absconding, according to details emerging from the investigation.
Call detail records accessed during the probe allegedly show that Giribala Singh contacted around 45 numbers after Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12.
Among those reportedly contacted were senior bureaucrats, legal officials, a Lokayukta member and even a beauty salon owner.
The names mentioned in the call records include Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary of MP State Legal Services; Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of New and Renewable Energy Department; Pragya Richa Srivastava, Director General of Home Guard, Civil Security and Disaster Management; Preeti Mudgal, member of Consumer Forum; Justice Satendra Kumar Singh, Lokayukta; and Kiran Parihar, linked to a beauty salon.
Though, Giribala Singh has issued a clarification regarding the 45 calls made after Twisha Sharma’s death, saying there was nothing unusual about contacting senior officials and professional associates during such a situation. Responding to questions over the call records, she said, “I won’t call shopkeepers, I will call my associates and colleagues in such a situation.”
Investigators are also examining phone records allegedly showing that Samarth Singh, who has been absconding for the past 10 days, remained in contact with his mother after disappearing from AIIMS Bhopal. According to the call detail records, Samarth allegedly made calls to Giribala Singh at 10.19 am and 6.18 pm on May 13, a day after Twisha’s death and after he reportedly went missing.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar said Madhya Pradesh Police have issued the third and final notice to Giribala Singh asking her to record her statement in the dowry death case.
“The third and last notice has been issued to her. If she does not cooperate, we will move the sessions court seeking cancellation of her bail,” he said.
Police sources said the notice was sent through post as well as WhatsApp.
At the same time, Twisha Sharma’s family has approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court challenging the anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh.
