A YOUNG girl is dead and four other people have been hospitalized after a shooter opened fire from the stands during a boys hockey game in Rhode Island, authorities say.

The suspected gunman is also dead after the shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, outside Providence.

Authorities aren’t looking for anyone else after confirming the suspect was dead, Pawtucket Mayor Donald R Grebien’s office told NBC affiliateWJAR.

The shooting unfolded at around 2:30 pm during a high school hockey game between Coventry-Johnston co-op and St. Raphael-Providence Country Day-North Providence-North Smithfield co-op, according to WJAR.

The gunfire came from behind one of the team’s benches, thePawtucket Timesreported.

A hero dad grabbed a gun out of the shooter’s hands during the incident, but the suspect pulled out another weapon, according to the outlet.

Everyone inside the arena has been evacuated and police are sweeping the scene.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced it was assisting with the investigation and urged the public to stay away.
