The primary threat came in response to Boebert’s recent endorsement and campaigning for Rep. Thomas Massie against a Trump-backed challenger.
Trump responded on Truth Social by calling Boebert “weak-minded” and openly inviting a primary challenger against her in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.
Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District? You remember Lauren moved to the District when it became obvious that she couldn’t win in her original Congressional District (The Third!) — A Carpetbagger, indeed! Boebert is campaigning for the Worst “Republican” Congressman in the History of our Country, Thomas Massie, of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, and anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight! Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement, and endorse a good and proper alternative. Just let me know, or announce your Candidacy, and I will be there for you! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Speaking to Chris Cuomo, Boebert explained:
“Well, first of all, my election and my primary are settled. It is certified. There is no time for a write-in candidate, and so when the president called for a primary opponent against me, that can’t happen, and I’m going to face a Democrat in the general election. My Democrat opponent does not have a primary opponent either, so it is the two of us head-to-head for the rest of this cycle.”
Colorado’s Republican primary for the 4th District is scheduled for June 30, but Boebert will be unopposed.
The candidate filing deadline closed on March 18, and the Secretary of State’s office has already certified the ballots, which have even been mailed to overseas voters.
While write-in candidates are still possible for the November general election, they cannot enter the primary at this stage.
Colorado Newslineexplained, “Candidates from any party who were not on the primary ballot and want to run as a write-in candidate in the November general election can file an affidavit of interest with the secretary of state’s office no later than July 16, according to secretary spokesperson Jack Todd.”
Yes, I saw the President’s post.
