The Massapequa Road Runner’s 44th Annual Massapequa Firecracker 5K Run/ Walk will return on June 14, bringing runners, walkers and families together for one of the community’s longtime summer traditions.
The race begins at 5 p.m. at Park and Clark boulevards in Massapequa Park. Participants will travel through neighborhood streets and portions of the Massapequa Preserve before finishing at Brady Park.
Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female masters runners. Additional awards will recognize the top three male and female finishers in each age group, the top three wheelchair finishers, and the top male and female finishers who are Massapequa Park residents.
The Kids Fun Run will begin at 4:15 p.m. at Brady Park, with all young participants receiving medals.
Race proceeds support two annual scholarships for Massapequa High School track athletes and help fund the nonprofit club’s contributions to the broader Long Island running community.
Following the races, families can enjoy entertainment including clowns, face painting and balloon animals. Awards, raffles and refreshments will also be available.
