Daler Perk team members smile while preparing an order, learning that great service begins with teamwork and a positive attitude.
At Albany Avenue Elementary School in Farmingdale, a student from Jessica Celenza’s class walks into the supply closet holding a colorful checklist, scanning shelves with focus and purpose. It marks the start of a “Celenza Prime” delivery run—part of a student-operated service turning everyday school tasks into structured, real-world learning.
The program, known as “Celenza Prime,” gives students responsibility for managing schoolwide deliveries of paper and instructional materials. While the work supports classroom operations, educators say the deeper goal is skill-building.
Students follow assigned schedules, complete deliveries across the building and practice problem-solving and communication along the way, gaining exposure to workplace expectations in a supportive environment.
A second student-led initiative, “The Daler Perk,” operates twice a month as a coffee cart service. Founded by teachers Gianna Ventiere and Olivia Lechner, the program places students in the role of baristas serving school staff.

Students take orders, prepare beverages and manage supplies while greeting customers and practicing professional interaction.
“The Daler Perk and Celenza Prime are creating opportunities for life, where students build the confidence and professional skills needed for the future while becoming the heart and soul of our school community,” said Albany Avenue Principal Joseph Valentine. “These experiences demonstrate that Albany Avenue is a tru- ly inclusive and nurturing environment where every student is empowered to grow at their own pace and discover their unique potential through meaningful, real-world experiences.”
Since the start of the 2025–2026 school year, the Celenza Prime team has completed nearly 100 deliveries, according to school officials.
Due to growing participation and demand, the district plans to expand The Daler Perk to operate every Friday. Supported in part by community donations, administrators say both programs are expected to continue growing as hands-on learning becomes a larger part of school life.
