Syosset school district voters approved a $306,874,324 budget on Tuesday, and incumbent Trustee Susan Falkove and elected newcomers Inna Choi and Rahul K. Nabe, to the school’s board of education from a field of six on Tuesday, May 19. Voters also passed the district’s budget with its additional proposition to authorize the 2026-27public librarybudget.
The budget passed 1,914 to 909. Trustees Falkove won with 2,041 votes, Choi with 1,848 and Nabe with 1,588 votes. They bested Lisa Li, who received 766 votes, Brian Tvedt, who received 610 votes, and Corey Witt, who received 500 votes.
“With this support, the district will preserve exceptional academic and co-curricular opportunities for students while remaining under the tax cap,” the district said in a press release.
The budget calls for a 2.19% tax levy increase.
The additional proposition of the public library’s budget also passed with 2,004 votes.

Voters in the Plainview Old-Bethpage school district passed the proposed budget of $205.8 million with 1,619 votes on May 19, along with the budget’s additional proposition.
By authorizing the budget, the tax levy will increase by 3.45%, which is below the allowable limit of 4.01%.
The first additional proposition authorized the use of $6 million from the 2022 capital reserve fund and passed with 1,768 votes. The public library’s budget also passed with 1,659 votes.
Jericho school district residents approved a $147,944,295 budget for the 2026-’27 school year, and elected Ira Checkla, who will be returning to the board after 20 years, and incumbent Divya Balachandar, as trustees to the board of education on May 19.
