The Plandome Heights Civic Association is inviting residents to explore the village’s rich heritage during the upcoming Plandome Heights Historical Walk.Returning by popular demand, the guided tour will share the fascinating history of the area beginning with the first farmhouse built in 1710.

The event is scheduled forSaturday, June 6, 2026, at 10 a.m., with a rain date set for June 13.Participants will gather at the corner ofShore Road and The Tidewayto begin a trek of approximately one mile that concludes at Plandome Pond Park.

The tour highlights significant local landmarks, including the site of the first farmhouse and the oldest structure still standing in the village today.Walkers will visit the location where the vote to incorporate as a village occurred and the site where sand was once mined to supply the sidewalks of New York City.The route also passes the community’s beautiful and historic Duke houses while offering insight into when the Cove, Waterway, and Neck sections were developed.Additionally, attendees will discover the history of the Bournedales and how they were later annexed into Plandome Heights.
