Village of Great Neck Trustee Eli Kashi said his work on the board has centered on keeping the village safe, clean and responsive to residents.

Kashi, 54, is up for re-election in June 2026 after serving three terms on the Village of Great Neck Board of Trustees. A Queens native and a Great Neck resident of 27 years, he said his priorities moving forward include safety, housing and improving day-to-day village operations.

“I know a lot of people in the Village of Great Neck — friends and families — and I was encouraged to run,” Kashi said. “It was very much about community and safety, and doing things the right way.”

Kashi said the board has focused on the practical issues residents bring to the village Hallefrom building and public works concerns to helping homeowners resolve problems with unpermitted spaces. He said the village has worked to improve those services while keeping costs stable for residents.

“We organized the Building Department and the Department of Public Works,” Kashi said. “We have not raised taxes on the village, so that’s something that I’m very proud of.”

Public safety remains one of Kashi’s primary issues from parking concerns and court security to traffic visibility on busy village streets.

“I’m very much into the safety of the community as a whole,” Kashi said. “I’m the liaison from the village to the Nassau County Police Department.”

If re-elected, Kashi said he wants to continue focusing on street cameras, road conditions and sidewalks, especially around Middle Neck Road, where illegally parked cars can block visibility for drivers leaving buildings.

He said the village has also focused on beautification, including improvements along Middle Neck Road and in the village parks. For Kashi, those projects are part of making Great Neck feel more welcoming to both residents and visitors.

“It makes me happy to see my village looking pretty and inviting to everybody,” he said.
