The last messages sent by Twisha Sharma, the33-year-old womanfound dead at her marital home in Bhopal last week, have surfaced, revealing signs of anxiety, emotional distress and a feeling of being “trapped” in the days leading up to her death. Twisha, originally from Noida, was found hanging at her husband Samarth Singh’s residence in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Samarth Singh is a lawyer, and the couple had reportedly met through a dating application in 2024 before marrying in December 2025.
An MBA graduate, Twisha had previously worked with a company in Delhi before relocating after marriage.
“I have been under anxiety because I am sitting at home. I want to do something with my life. Shaadi makes your family, but you cannot stop working on yourself, for yourself regardless where you are,” she wrote.
She also cautioned her friend against rushing into marriage, saying, “Shaadi ki khujli me shaadi mat karna. Soch samaj kar aage badhna.”
When her friend expressed concern, Twisha replied, “Main theek hoon. Mujhe bas ghar ki bahut yaad aati hai. Teri yaad aati hai.”
In another Instagram conversation, Twisha appeared more distressed and wrote, “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna. Can't talk much. I will call when the time is right.”
Her family alleged that they faced repeated resistance while trying to get an FIR registered and accused police of failing to act promptly. Twisha’s cousin Ashish Sharma claimed the family was forced to run “from pillar to post” between police stations, the women’s commission and senior officials.
According to the preliminary postmortem report, the cause of death was hanging, but multiple injury marks were also found on her body.
A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe allegations of dowry harassment against Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge. The family has accused both of murder and expressed concern that their influence could affect the investigation.
