A 24-year-old married woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping from a rooftop in Greater Noida, with her family accusing her in-laws of harassment over dowry demands. According to police, the incident took place in the Jalpura area under the jurisdiction of Ecotech 3 Police Station. The woman, Deepika, had been married for around 14 months.

The victim’s family alleged that she was frequently harassed and physically assaulted by her husband and in-laws for dowry, despite the wedding reportedly involving expenses of nearly Rs 1 crore.

Police said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. The accused husband and father-in-law have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.

Times Now has accessed the FIR in the Deepika death case, where seven members of her marital family have been named as accused.

Those named in the FIR include Manoj (father-in-law), Kusum (mother-in-law), Ritik (husband), Neha (sister-in-law), Netra (sister-in-law), Pramod (uncle-in-law) and Vinod, a relative from the in-laws’ side.

The complainant has accused all seven family members of harassment, abetment and conspiracy in connection with Deepika’s death. Police have registered the FIR and launched an investigation into the allegations.

The case comes days after a 33-year-old woman was found dead in Bhopal earlier this week, prompting police to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of dowry harassment against her husband, a lawyer, and his mother, a retired judge. The deceased, Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida, was discovered hanging at her matrimonial home in the Katara Hills area on May 12, according to PTI.
