Trump spent much of last week warning Iran that it must end its nuclear program and agree to Washington’s demands or face destruction.

“We’re either going to make a deal, or they’re going to be decimated. One way or the other, we win,” Trump told reporters before traveling to China.

Trump told reporters in Beijing that Washington does not want Iran to have a nuclear weapon and wants the Strait of Hormuz open. He told Fox News in the interview that he is running out of patience.

“They should make a deal,” Trump said.

Pete Hegseth, the secretary of War, also said at a congressional hearing that the U.S. can escalate the war if necessary.

“We have a plan to retrograde, if necessary,” he continued. “We have a plan to shift assets.”

Iran has hardened its demands to end the war.

Tehran wants international acknowledgment that it controls the Strait of Hormuz; it wants sanction relief; it wants Washington to pay reparations for the damage caused by the war that started on 28 February; and it wants the war to end on “all fronts,” meaning the IDF’s massacre spree in Lebanon.
