Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is a “fan girl” of Gavin Newsom and has set her sights on getting him in the White House, a report has claimed.
The 85-year-old, who is serving out her last term before stepping down this year, believes the California governor would make a “great president,”according to Axios.
“She’s a Gavin fan girl and she doesn’t crush on many people,” one former Pelosi aide said. “I will say this: She’s hardly ever wrong. When she says she sees something, it’s a real thing.”
Pelosi, who has served in Congress for nearly four decades, has never shied away from publicly or privately endorsing Newsom, who is weighing a presidential run in 2028, according to former aides.
“I’ve seen him grow politically. I’ve also seen him have this beautiful family, and for all of us who love him, seeing him evolve has been wonderful to behold,” Pelosi previously toldVogue.
For the first time, Pelosi would not be wielding House leadership power during a presidential election cycle, allowing her to pick favorites even before the primaries, according to the report.

Newsom has been steadily raising his national and international profile, includingspeaking at the World Economic Forumin Davos,attending the Munich Security Conferenceandauthoring a memoirset to be released later this month.
Pelosi and Newsom, both from San Francisco, are also related. Pelosi’s brother-in-law was briefly married to Newsom’s aunt.
