A massive fire broke out at the Shahberi Furniture Market in Greater Noida on Friday (May 15), causing panic across the region. Reportedly, several cylinders also exploded during the incident. According to the videos surfacing, a large plume of smoke was seen in the sky after the fire broke out. There were no immediate reports of any casualties or injuries.
As a precaution, nearby homes and shops were evacuated. Upon receiving the information, several fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene and began efforts to control the fire.
According to a Times Now Navbharat report, the eyewitnesses said that the fire broke out in a furniture market; however, the cause of the fire is not known yet.
A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said thick black smoke was billowing from the site, which soon turned into a massive blaze engulfing several parked vehicles.
"At least 10 cars and two scooters were gutted in the fire. Cooling operations were still underway till late evening to ensure that no fresh flare-up took place," the official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Earlier today, a massive fire broke out in several vehicles parked at a parking lot near the railway line in Bihar Colony under the Farsh Bazar police station area of Shahdara district on Friday. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
According to initial information, multiple cars parked in the parking area caught fire, and blasts were heard from the vehicles during the incident. Several fire tenders rushed to the spot, and efforts were underway to control the blaze.
A Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said a call regarding the incident was received at 4:57 pm, following which four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. “We received a call at 4:57 pm and four vehicles were sent. Rescue operations are ongoing,” the official said.
The official said the fire was minor in nature and no casualties or injuries had been reported so far.
