“We, the jury, have concluded we cannot reach a unanimous decision,” the jurors said in a note to Judge Curtis Farber.
Farber ordered the jurors to continue deliberating. If jurors cannot reach a unanimous verdict, he said, then the court will need to schedule a new trial with a different panel.
“If you need read-backs or clarifications of the law, we stand ready to do so,” Farber instructed the panel. “I appreciate the process is difficult. Please continue to deliberate.”
Weinstein is charged with third-degree rape against former aspiring actor Jessica Mann, who claims the disgraced entertainment mogul assaulted her at a DoubleTree hotel in Manhattan in 2013.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, and he has denied all allegations of nonconsensual sex.
The trial marks the third time Weinstein faces charges stemming from Mann’s allegations.
He wasfirst convicted in early 2020of third-degree rape related to Mann’s claims, but a New York state appeals courtoverturned the convictionin 2024, ruling that the trial judge had improperly allowed testimony about allegations not directly tied to the case.
Weinstein wasagain tried on Mann’s allegationslast year, but the juryfailed to reach a verdicton the count tied to her.
