Students at Summit Lane Elementary School in the Levittown School District had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of professions during an interactive Career Day on May 5, which brought community professionals and first responders directly to the school.
Outside the school, Nassau County Police Department officers showcased several specialized units and vehicles, giving students an up-close look at mounted police horses, a K9 unit dog, motorcycles and an armored vehicle. Students learned about the important roles officers and emergency personnel play in keeping communities safe while asking questions and exploring the equipment firsthand.
Inside the gymnasium, students rotated through presentations and exhibits led by professionals from a range of career fields, including architecture, dentistry, electrical work and firefighting. Presenters shared insights about their professions and the skills needed for success in their industries.
The event sparked students’ curiosity and broadened their understanding of future opportunities.
