In a chilling murder case from Mumbra near Mumbai, police have uncovered a shocking crime, in which a woman allegedly killed her own lover with the help of her husband and brother before dumping his body inside a green drum in a drain in an attempt to erase evidence. This comes over a year after the gruesome murder of 29-year-old Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, which shocked the nation.

The blind murder case came to light after an intensive investigation by Mumbra Police, who tracked digital evidence, phone records, and location data to crack the mystery.

According to police sources, the victim, identified as Arbaaz Maqsood Ali Khan, a resident of Mumbra, had left home on April 3, 2026, telling his family that he was heading to Dadar for work. However, he never returned. His family members searched for him extensively, but after failing to locate him, his father approached the Mumbra Police and filed a missing person complaint.

Following the complaint, investigators began examining Arbaaz’s call records and mobile location history. During the technical investigation, police found that his last known location was in the Versova area. As the probe progressed, officials discovered that the location of his alleged girlfriend, Mehjabeen Sheikh, matched the same area around the time Arbaaz went missing.

The overlap in location raised suspicion, prompting police to detain Mehjabeen for questioning. Investigators said she initially attempted to mislead the police and denied involvement. However, during sustained interrogation, she allegedly confessed and revealed details of a planned conspiracy.

According to police findings, Mehjabeen, along with her husband Hasan and her brother Tariq Sheikh, allegedly plotted to extort money from Arbaaz. Investigators suspect the accused called him to Versova under the pretext of a financial transaction.

Police believe the situation escalated when the accused failed to get money from him. Arbaaz was allegedly tied up and brutally assaulted using a plastic pipe before being killed.

After the murder, the accused allegedly stuffed the body into a green-colored drum and transported it to a secluded drain in the Mumbra area, where they dumped it in an effort to destroy evidence and avoid suspicion.

Acting on the confession and evidence collected during the investigation, Mumbra Police arrested Mehjabeen Sheikh and her brother, Tariq Sheikh. Meanwhile, Mehjabeen’s husband, Hasan and another accused, identified as Mujammal Pathan, are currently absconding. Police teams have launched a search operation to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.

Authorities have registered a case under charges related to murder, criminal conspiracy, and other relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway.
