In a big change for NEET UG 2026, the Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced that the NEET UG 2026 will be held online from next year.

Three days after cancellation of NEET UG 2026, Minister of Education of India, Dharmendra Pradhan, has broken silence on the matter. The National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 12 cancelled NEET UG 2026 exam a few days after it was alleged that there has been a paper leak in the biggest medical entrance exam of the country.

NTA has stated that on the basis of the inputs received by NTA, taken together with the findings shared by the law enforcement agencies, proved that the current examination could not have been allowed to continue. Thus, the NEET UG 2026 exam that was conducted on May 3 has now been cancelled across the country. The re-exam will now be held onJune 21, 2026 (Sunday), and the revised admit cards will be released a 3-5 days before the exam date.

In relation to this, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan briefed the media on Re-NEET at 10:30 am on May 15 (Friday) at his residence. The Re-NEET UG 2026 date has been announced on Friday following a late-night high-level meeting at the Education Minister's residence.

Pradhan revealed that by May 7, NTA received complaint on the grievance system that some questions from the guess paper are similar to the actual exam paper. The complaint was taken up by the Education Ministry and other investigation agencies. We conducted our investigation and cancelled the exam by May 12.

“We have said that we work on zero tolerance. For the last two years, we have implemented the Radhaswamy Commission report thoroughly,” he stated. Pradhan added that the re-exam will be held after a month, and "our approach will remain the same, i.e. removing all sorts of anti-social elements. and ensure that the next examination will be devoid of this paper leak mafia." Pradhan also stated that the CBI is currently conducting their independent investigation and will ensure that the miscreants are given the harshest punishment.

The Minister also stated that the candidates will be given one week's time in which they will be able to choose their examination centre. This is being done to ensure that students who had shifted their residence can apply for an examination centre in the city they are currently residing in.
