A wellness ritual recently shared by Shweta Shah – Deepika Padukone’s former nutritionist- has sparked widespread conversation online after she claimed that soaking feet in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes may help reduce stroke risk, especially in people over 50.
The simple Japanese-inspired practice, which involves soaking the feet in warm water - sometimes with Epsom salt, is being praised on social media for its potential benefits for blood circulation, stress reduction, and sleep quality. But doctors say while the ritual may support relaxation and cardiovascular wellness, it should not be viewed as a guaranteed way to prevent strokes.

Shah, in a post on Instagram, said the practice works by expanding blood vessels, improving circulation, calming the nervous system, and reducing stress. She also suggested that adding Epsom salt may further improve sleep and relaxation. The trend has gained popularity because of its simplicity and connection to Japanese wellness traditions, which often focus on relaxation, circulation, and preventive health practices.
