LG Uplus has launched the Galaxy Buddy5, a budget-friendly 5G smartphone priced at 528,000 won ($352), available at its official online store and physical stores nationwide, the company said Thursday.
The Galaxy Buddy5 is the fifth model in the Galaxy Buddy series, a U+ exclusive 5G smartphone line LG Uplus first introduced in 2021. Based on Samsung Electronics' Galaxy A17 5G, the device is designed around practical everyday functions and comes in black, blue and gray.
Key specifications include a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 50-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, a 13-megapixel front camera, a 5,000mAh battery, a microSD card slot supporting up to 2TB of storage and IP54 water and dust resistance.
LG Uplus said the Galaxy Buddy series has maintained steady demand as a first smartphone for children, a handset for elderly parents and a secondary device.
To mark the launch, the company's live commerce channel, UPlus LIVE, will broadcast three sessions on Friday, 19 and 28, covering practical features and rate plan options. The company earlier held a launch broadcast Thursday, featuring a U+ telecommunications specialist demonstrating real-world usage scenarios.
Customers who activate the Galaxy Buddy5 through the official online store will receive a complimentary protective case on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 1,000 buyers. Additional promotions are running through June 5, including a gift set for the first 1,000 online participants and prize draws for 555 winners.
Trade-in customers will receive a minimum 20,000 won in Naver Pay points, with additional compensation available for select models.
