Hardik Pandya created a new world record as he continued his brilliant record against Pakistan during India's marquee Group A clash against their arch-rivals in the 2026 T20 World Cup on Sunday (February 15) after the Men in Blue's thumping 61-run victory at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Hardik had a rare off-day with the bat as he was dismissed for a golden duck for the first time in his career, but later was at his best wth the ball as he took two wickets and conceded just 16 runs in three overs.

After India posted a total of 175 on the board, Hardik was given the new ball and gave India a dream start. He bowled a wicket-maiden in which Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for a duck. Later, he returned to dismiss Shaheen Afridi, which was the 10th wicket of Pakistan's innings.

As a result of his two-wicket haul, Hardik broke a tie with modern-day legends Irfan Pathan, Lasith Malinga and Mitchell Starc and now has taken the most wickets against Pakistan in the history of the T20 World Cups. The star all-rounder has faced the Men in Green five times (bowled in four matches) in his career in the mega event and has eight wickets.
