In a tragic incident, a pregnant woman went for a maternity photoshoot with her three-year-old son inBengaluru'sGiddanahalli. However, the shoot ended in grief for the mother as the boy drowned in a pond at the private studio, located near Magadi Main Road. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when the toddler accompanied his mother, who is seven months pregnant, for the shoot, according to a TOI report.
The three old boys, Lakshveer, along with his mother, Swathi, went to the studio, which is a popular spot for pre-wedding and maternity shoots inBengaluru.
Swathi's husband, a software engineer, had gone to the US for work about a week earlier. Before leaving for the studio, Swathi told her husband that she was going for the shoot along with Lakshveer.
When Swathi was busy with the photoshoot, her son was playing in the studio premises. The studio property has three small ponds. According to the police, Lakshveer may have wandered towards one of the ponds and accidentally slipped into the water.
When Swathi realised her son was not nearby, she started looking for him. He was later found in one of the ponds. The staff at the studio pulled him out and rushed him to a nearby hospital; however, doctors declared him dead, according to a TOI report.
The police said that the pond had more than 2 feet of water, and Lakshveer was about 3 feet tall. They added that he might have been unable to regain his footing and possibly got stuck in the mud.
Swathi's father, Ramesh Babu, had filed a complaint at Madanayakanahalli police station under the case of unnatural death. Moreover, the studio has not been blamed for the incident.
The police have sent the child's body for autopsy at the Nelamangala government hospital on Sunday. Swathi's husband has been informed about the tragic incident and is returning to Bengaluru.
